․Annual revenue hits a record high, and quarterly revenue surpasses KRW 500 billion for the first time ․ Operating expense and CAPEX increase due to subscriber growth ․Combined fixed-mobile competitiveness will be strengthened through substantial growth in 2010 Seoul, South Korea – February 5, 2010 – SK broadband incorporated (KOSDAQ: 033630) (the ¡°Company¡±) Korea¡¯s leading integrated telecommunications company, announced that the Company recorded the highest sales both yearly and quarterly posting a revenue of KRW 1,894.0 billion for the year 2009 and KRW 525.9 billion for the fourth quarter of 2009. The revenues increased by 1.8% compared to the previous year to record KRW 1,894.0 billion, resulting from boost in VoIP and IPTV sales and subscriber growth throughout the business. Revenues for the fourth quarter of 2009 also rose by 11% quarter on quarter to mark KRW 525.9 billion, surpassing KRW 500 billion for the first time since its founding. Compared to the same quarter last year, it climbed approximately 19%. Meanwhile, SK broadband posted an operating loss of KRW 109.2 billion and a net loss of KRW 191.2 billion on yearly basis resulting from increased marketing expenses affected by not only increase in revenues and subscriber base, but also increased CAPEX for network upgrade. Marketing expense increased by 31.7% year on year to post KRW 603.8 billion, and CAPEX totaled KRW 539.9 billion, up by 6.8% year on year as the Company continued to make necessary investments including those for network upgrade and network expansion. The 2009 cumulative number of broadband subscribers has reached approx. 3,847 thousand by adding 303 thousand year on year, and VoIP subscribers stood at 1,330 thousand by adding 1,210 thousand compared to the previous year. SK broadband¡¯s CFO Mr. Young-Chul, Kim said, ¡°In 2009 the Company secured stable basis for mid and long term growth by expanding subscriber base throughout the business.¡± ¡°The Company will strengthen combined fixed-mobile competitiveness by accomplishing ¡®substantial growth¡¯ by rolling out customer-centered and value-focused management, and strengthening alliance with SK Telecom.¡± he added.
